Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, OJSC (MMK) ranks among the world's largest steel producers and holds a leading position among the ferrous metallurgy companies of Russia. The company's assets include a large steel producing complex encompassing the entire production chain, from preparation of iron ore to downstream processing of rolled steel.
Over the last decade, the plant revamped almost all production areas and built new high-capacityunits. MMK produces a wide range of steel products with a predominant share of products with high added value.
Construction of new production facilities and modernization of existing onesallowed significantly increasing the process efficiency and expanding the range of manufactured products.
The largest investment projects of MMK in the recent decade were the 5000 mm plate mill and 2000 mm cold-rolling mill.
In 2014, the Group produced 13.031 million tons of steel and 12.158 million tons of commercial steel products. The share of products with high value added in the total production volume amounted to 37.3%.
The main customers of MMK in the domestic market are pipemakers, metalware, mechanical engineering and automotive companies. The share of the domestic market in MMK sales in 2014 totaled 82.3%.
