Metal-Expo'2016: Barometer of Steel Industry Development

Metal-Expo’2016, the 22d International Industrial Exhibition was held on 8 - 11 November in Moscow. 530 companies from 32 world countries including steel producers, tubes and pipes manufacturers, steel products distributers, engineers, as well as suppliers of equipment for all the stages of ferrous and non-ferrous productions participated in the event. 27k professionals visited the exhibition during the four days. A record-breaking number of 13k visitors was registered on November 10.

Massive expositions at Metal-Expo’2016 were arranged by steel and engineering companies as well as steel structures manufacturers: MMK, TMK, Severstal, Mechel, OMK, NLMK, EVRAZ, Metalloinvest, IMH, UMMC, Chelpipe, Electrostal, Lysva Steel Company, Red October, Volgograd Steel Works, Motovilikha Plants, TEMPO, Ruspolyment, KUMZ, Aluminium Metallurg Rus, OMZ Group, VSMPO-AVISMA, ORMETO-YUMZ, EZTM, Weber CoMechanics, Robur, VI-MENS, Izhmetalmash, KAMI, Reltec, Zlatoust Engineering Works, Litmashprobor etc.

More than 200 international companies from 32 world countries arranged their expositions at Metal-Expo’2016: ArcelorMittal, SSAB, Metinvest, Belorussian Steel Works, Dneprospetsstal, Aktobe Rails and Sections Plant, SMS group, Ficep, Metalforme, Fagor, Gasparini, MAIR Research, Liebherr, Terex Fuchs, LDM, Bronx International, Bradbury, STAM, HWS Sinto, Kwintmadi, Dango & Dienenthal, Gertner Group, Glama, CFHI, Vernet Behringer, Danieli-Henschel, NKMZ and many more.

As a business platform, the exhibition can boast of a big number of steel industry professionals and decision-makers among exhibitors and visitors as well as its hard-driving events program. The exhibition provided steel market participants a good opportunity to arrange meetings to solve the most pressing problems of the industry, sign cooperation agreements, and conclude contracts on supplies of high-quality products, equipment, technologies and innovative solutions.

Thus, during Metal-Expo’2016 Metalloinvest signed iron ore supplies agreements with 3 leading steel holdings MMK, TMK and Chelpipe. During 1 year Metalloinvest will supply 570kt of materials.

During Metal-Expo’2016 steel producers, traders, equipment manufacturers and suppliers, metal constructors etc. discussed various aspects of development of the steel industry, construction, power engineering, transportation as well as new market trends and projects.

Thus, Severstal presented its internet-shop, Beloretsk Steel Works (incorporated in Mechel) presented a new product: galvanized steel ropes for helicopters, Cherepovets Engineering Plant presented its new brand-name HighMet, Ruspolyment announced manufacture of imports substituting products for oil and gas industry etc.

Winners of The Main Event in the Russian Steel Industry’2016 contest were awarded at the gala dinner for exhibitors. Among the winners were: projects by NLMK Group, (commissioning of pelletizing plant, capacity: 5Mt) and StavStal (commissioning of the 2d line of electric steel-malting plant, capacity: 500kt).

Metal Week in Moscow began with Russian Metal and Steel Market conference covering market trends and outlooks. Winners of The Best Russian Steel Warehouse, Steel Service Center and Sales Network were awarded during the conference.

On the first day of the exhibition the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia held a workshop of the Steel Industry Coordination Council to discuss the most pressing issues of the industry under the current economic conditions and work out the strategy of the industry development until 2030.

More than 40 events on the main issues of the steel industry as well as individual presentations were held during Metal-Expo’2016.

The most prominent achievements and solutions in the ferrous and non-ferrous industries were awarded Metal-Expo’2016 gold and silver medals.
