Danieli Upgrades TISCO Thin-Slab Casters

Two thin-slab casters supplied to Chinese steelmaker TISCO in 2012 have been upgraded by Italian plant builder Danieli, a Metal-Expo regular exhibitor. Tangshan-based TISCO ordered Danieli Rotelec mould electromagnetic brake technology (MM-EMB®) to produce defect-free thin slabs at high speeds and throughput, said Danieli.

Danieli claims that its Rotelec technology not only produces a global braking function, but also addresses the specific flow problems of thin-slab casters. It uses five electromagnets to produce a static permanent magnetic field across the mould, to generate stabilising and damping functions, in addition to standard braking.

In Q1 2019 the first heat with the MM-EMB® was carried out and only five days later a casting speed of 6.0 m/min on a MC steel grade was achieved, with excellent hot-rolled coil quality results, according to Danieli.

Danieli welcomes all steel industry professionals to visit its stand at Metal-Expo'2019, the 25th Jubilee International Exhibition, November 12-15, Hall 75, VDNHa, Moscow, Russia. Stand N 2C12.

The total of more than 530 companies from 34 world countries will attend Metal-Expo’2019, while more than 30k steel industry professionals from all over the world are expected to visit the event.
