I am pleased to welcome the participants and organizers of the 30th anniversary of the International Industrial Exhibition “Metal-Expo”.
Over three decades it has become an important platform for exchanging experiences and conducting negotiations among leading steel companies, their customers, equipment manufacturers and technological innovators. In 2024 around 1,000 enterprises from the CIS countries and foreign countries, including China, India, Iran, Turkey and EU member states will be represented at the exhibition.
Today the domestic metallurgy industry, having successfully adapted to the pressures of sanctions, is implementing a large-scale projects and actively developing. Last year its growth exceeded 3%. The high demand for products is largely driven by housing and road construction, modernization of public infrastructure and engineering networks. This year the high-speed railway project between Moscow and St. Petersburg has also commenced, expansion of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) and Trans-Siberian Railway, the Federal Highway M-12 "East" continues, and dozens of river and sea vessels of various types are being constructed at shipyards across the country. The recovery of the automotive industry is gaining momentum: from January to June the production of trucks increased by 21%, while passenger car production got a threefold increase. This means hundreds of thousands of tons of various rolled products and castings.
These results have been significantly facilitated by the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of the Metallurgical Industry until 2030, prepared under the directive of the head of state. Work is being carried out in three main directions: deepening processing and mastering high-end production, ensuring a supply of critically important raw materials and stimulating domestic demand, as well as reorienting exports to the friendly countries.
The President has emphasized that year by year the industry is becoming increasingly high-tech. Advanced engineering and production solutions are being actively implemented, and unique alloys that allow the creation of materials with special properties are being developed. All of this opens up new and vast opportunities in various fields — from aviation and space to electronics and medicine.
I am confident that the exhibition and the planned professional competitions, conferences and seminars will provide answers to the most complex questions, discuss new challenges and explore emerging opportunities.

We are confident that "Metal-Expo" will once again facilitate the promotion and implementation of the latest developments by metallurgical companies, expand the sales markets, and increase investments in ecological modernization and social infrastructure.
