OJSC Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works is one of the world largest steel making companies and is the leader of the Russia’s steel industry. In the annual rating «Top Steel-Producing Companies 2013» of the World Steel Association Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works ranked among 30 world largest steel producers.

The Company’s assets in Russia comprise a big steel making complex with a full production cycle from preparation of iron ore to downstream processing of products. MMK produces a wide product range with a prevailing share of high value-added products. In 2013, MMK Group produced 11.9 million tons of steel and 11million tons of commercial steel products. MMK Group’s revenue for 2013 amounted to USD 8.190 billion, EBITDA – USD 1.223 billion.

A significant portion of MMK’s products is exported to various countries, but the domestic market (together with CIS countries) is the Company’s key sales market. At present, around 85 percent of all Company’s products is shipped to the domestic market. Moreover, the major investment projects of the past decade, such as revamping of long products facilities, commissioning of the state-of-the-art EAF complex, construction of galvanizing and color coating lines, are oriented to the requirements of the Russian market and Russian customers. However, MMK’s crucial investment project of the recent period was the construction of a cutting-edge plate producing complex consisting of a 5,000mm Plate Mill, Slab Continuous Caster-6 and secondary metallurgy unit (2009-2010) and of a Cold Rolling Complex (Mill 2000) focusing on the production of top-quality automobile sheets and steel for manufacturing of household appliances. This complex was commissioned during 2011-2012.

MMK’s daily production amounts to about 30 thousand tons of steel products – around ten railway trains of steel products daily shipped by MMK to its customers. For more than 80-years history (MMK was founded in 1932), MMK’s steel-makers produced over 750 million tons of steel, which is sufficient to build about 40 exact copies of the biggest Egyptian pyramid – the Great Pyramid of Cheops.
